Spent some time today going over my American Modern Aikido Knife Instructor training. Two basic grips and around 10 different attacks. Also did some kicks and punches. Not much else to say, fairly routine. Add Comment Contact 12/28/2011
I wanted to remind everyone to train by actually hitting something. Kicking and punching the air is good for form, buy you need to be trained to absorb the impacts you are generating. Basics 12/27/2011
Spent the last couple training sessions working on basic blocks and reverse punches. Stretching and Point Balance 12/24/2011
Started the day with some active leg stretches. I think that I will work on my Point Balance today. I will let you all know how it turns out; been awhile since I worked directly on my point balance. Seated Defense 12/19/2011
For some strange reason my foot is swollen, so I am working on my seated defense and attacks. In level 7 of Integrated Martial Arts we talk about being about to attack and defend from unusual positions. I was inspired by Loren Christensen to cover this topic as he explained it well in his training video, Solo Training. Also, advanced Hapkido talks about self defense from unusual positions. Some of the unusual positions you can train in are: seated in a chair, lying on your back, sitting in a car (car jacking defense), and having your hands bound.
